Carbon footprint calculation

We have calculated our carbon footprint according to the GHG protocol. The calculations take into account the heating, electricity consumption, fuel (Scope 1 and 2), and the carbon emissions of the main materials for fences and gates, namely steel, aluminum, and concrete (Scope 3) for both Saher-Aidat Ltd and Saherasennus Ltd. We have previously paid attention to our own emissions and have therefore chosen to use only 100% renewable electricity. Because of this, the emissions from heating, electricity, and our own vehicles and machinery amounted to only 7% of our total emissions. Instead, the raw materials for fences and gates, including steel, aluminum, concrete, and their transportation, account for 93% of the company's carbon emissions.

Our operating environment is constantly changing, and climate issues have become increasingly important in the business sector. Companies are also expected to provide more information about carbon emissions, and by calculating our own carbon footprint, we gained certainty about the sources of our emissions and how we can reduce them. Based on the calculations, we have set goals and explored actions to reduce our carbon emissions. For example, we have transitioned to using Kaukokiito's climate-friendly transportation service and increased the use of recycled aluminum in our products. We are continually researching the availability and possibilities of using new recycled raw materials.

Calculating carbon emissions is part of our broader sustainability efforts, and we aim to promote a carbon-neutral circular economy through our choices and actions.
